Day 6 of the 30 Day Music Challenge.
Updating on time finally. :D
Today's song: A song that reminds you of somewhere.
This one is pretty straight-forward. But has no YouTube video. Just click the link to listen.
Goodbye Virgina - Groovelily
I've never really stayed in Virginia, although Annie Dillard's book Pilgrim at Tinker Creek made it sound like a very nice place to live. XD Mostly what this reminds me of is just being back East, which I love. I hate the humidity, but everything else about it I love. It's so lush and green, and just... ah. I like it. I'll probably never live there, but I'll always have a special place in my heart for the East coast.

Day 4 & 5
Sorry about no update yesterday. Busy Saturday.
Day 4: A Song that makes you Sad
Lær Meg Å Kjenne - Sissel Kyrkjebø
This is just such an incredibly beautiful song. Sorry it's in Norwegian, but that's how it is best, so I wouldn't really want to find it in English. Sissel goes over the story in English before singing the song. It's similar to the story of Job, and it's just a lovely, lovely song.
Day 5: A Song that reminds you of someone
Hahah, couldn't really think of a song for this. Zero to Hero from Disney's Hercules does always remind me of my older sister though. Hercules is her favorite Disney man and just her favorite Disney movie in general. The song kind of applies to my little brother Thomas too, who is becoming a very impressive baseball player, when he used to hate the sport. :D

Day 2 & 3
Well, that downtime sure got this challenge off to a great start. Figures Blogger would break down right when I want to be doing something... and then stay down for hours.
Whatever. It's up again. Day 2 & 3 will just have to be combined. I don't mind, since I don't like Day 2 anyway.
Day 2: Your Least Favorite Song
My least favorite song ever is probably a song I have kept from hearing. Billy Joel's Always a Woman to Me is pretty low on my list though. I didn't really like the song in the first place, although I could tolerate it.
Then my older sister decided to learn it for a piano recital.
It has been pretty-much the only song she's played for the last three years. I am sick and tired of this song. So here it is. I didn't even listen to it, so hopefully the video is good quality.
Day 3: A Song that Makes You Happy
I have a lot of these. Tons and tons and tons. Instead of doing the predictable and giving you a Groovelily song, I'll take one from Martina McBride (which is also probably pretty predictable but whatever): Happy Girl. I'll quality check this one for you because it makes me happy. As you might guess from the name.
Martina McBride never ceases to make me happy. This video's music isn't actually quite top quality (but it's still pretty good), but it has lots of clips of Martina, which adds to my happiness.
Joy ahoy!
See you guys tomorrow with a sadness-inducing song.

Today: My Favorite Song.
That's a toughie. I've got a lot of favorite songs, and a lot of them will work well for other days. So today I'll pick the song that was my favorite when I was in gradeschool, "I'm Already There" by Lonestar.
I still absolutely love this song, and I love how it's used to much as a tribute to our troops. That could be what it was written for originally- the members of Lonestar did join the army, which led to an extra-special version of this song talked-over by their wives and children, like a letter from home. But I've never looked into it, even though I've had the CD with this song for I don't even know how long. It's a very sweet, comforting song, and easy to sing too, which was very important to me when I first learned it, hahah.
Tomorrow? My least favorite song. I'm not really looking forward to that.

I like things like this.
This is one of the reasons I'm really excited to go to BYU. I get to learn about science, particularly evolutionary sciences and theories on the Big Bang and the formation of the universe, in a religious setting.
I love these both. I believe in them both.
This is a good article: Faith in Science and Religion
One of the things that gets my goat up most in life is Creationists. When the subject is brought up, I usually battle to hold my tongue because I know that, although I have plenty of factual evidence, I'll just get snappy and rude to the person. Creationists generally are unwilling to give science any ground, and that frustrates me to no end.
If only they could all have a mood like was mentioned by Dr. Moody. This quote really covers my feelings, ""Scientific discovery delves into what God has done," Moody said. "Science is reasoning in the world around us through the process of discovery and should also lead us to truth."
True religion additionally, Moody said, encompasses all truth, and in that way is greater than science."
Good article.

Post Office Adventure
A long time back my DS broke. I decided to use Nintendo's option for a new, half-price DS rather than send that one in to get fixed, so then I had two DSs, one functional and one just taking up space. I figured I'd get it fixed one day, and then I'd have two DSs. That'd be pretty great.
If any of you remember myblog about my brother's skills, he chickened out when he saw just how small the object was he had to fix and so the DS didn't get fixed. Recently I was on a classifieds website and saw someone advertising a DS repair service. That reminded me of the old pink one gathering dust in my room. But that service was expensive. I figured I could find it cheaper, and, soon enough, I did. This service wasn't local, but paying the shipping fees was still cheaper than getting it from the local guy. So today I ordered that one.
Of course, that meant a trip to the post office to ship my DS out. Unfortunately, my mom's car's fan belt broke the other day and so she was using my car. Eh, the post office isn't that far away. I stuck the things in my purse and started walking. I got about a block before the thought came to me that it would be even faster to ride my bike. So I walked back to get my bike out.
It had a low tire, but that wasn't much of a problem. A brief search for the pump, and soon I was ready to go. I biked down, stuck my bike in the bike rack, and headed into the post office.
There was a bit of a line, so I waited. When the time came that I was next, I suddenly realized I'd forgotten something vital: the address.
Out I rushed. I got back on my bike, and came to the disappointing realization that it was all uphill back to my house. Winter is a bad time to exercise when you live in a mountain valley, so I'm out of shape, but I started pumping up that hill determinedly despite.
It's been a few months since I've ridden my bike, which, mind you, is 20 years old (older than me e.e). In those few months, it apparently developed Alzheimers and forgot how to switch gears. This is a heavy duty mountain bike, and pedaling it up steep hills on the hardest setting is... not great. But, however slowly, I made it home again, legs aching, lungs heaving, and entirely rather wet since it started raining on the way.
Needless to say, I was not biking back there. My parents were both at my little sister's track meet, so I decided I'd walk the line a bit and take the Suburban. My dad doesn't like me driving it much, since it's such a big car, and I don't like driving it much either for the same reason, but I was taking it anyway.
I probably drove it down slower than I was riding my bike uphill, but we made it down safely, I parked the behemoth, and went in to ship my DS out.
That all went very well. The postage man was very worried about shipping an electronic and bundled it up nicely for me, I paid for it, and drove home with a bit more confidence.
So ultimately, this is more of a bike riding adventure, but I did go to a post office at two points in the story so I titled this as an adventure there.
In case you're interested, I'm two for two in forgetting the address when making a shipment.

Dumb warning labels
I do have a terrifying story about my experience with a policeman to tell you, but I'll do that on a day when I have more time.
Until then, enjoy this article.
I certainly did. The Jet Ski warning is probably my favorite, if only for the commentary on it.
